Please tell us about any volunteer work you've done, if any.
I volunteer at Lane Regional Medical Center (LMRC), a healthcare facility in my suburban town of Zachary, Louisiana. During the summer, I volunteer at LMRC and show hospitality to patients by passing out ice to all the patients in the Emergency Rooms. Putting fresh water into their water pitchers is enough to make them smile. My experience volunteering at LMRC allowed me to develop valuable patient interaction skills and connect with my community.
I volunteer at Manning Family Children's Hospital in the family resource center. I get to connect with patients and their families through activities, such as bingo, board games, or arts and crafts. Being a volunteer has taught me that small gestures, such as a game of bingo, are incredibly meaningful to the patients. This experience allows me to help patients preserve their joys of childhood, despite whatever medical condition they may have.
