Tell Us About Your Interests!

What are your career goals?
Looking ahead, I plan to attend medical school to pursue an MD or MD/PhD degree and become a physician. As a woman and an Asian American, Louisiana is my home, and I am dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in Louisiana’s healthcare field. Due to my background, I want to advocate for minority and underrepresented groups by using my abilities to communicate effectively and show compassion in healthcare. As I continue to volunteer at my local hospice and healthcare facility, I’ve learned that treatment doesn’t start with the patient’s medication or procedure, but rather the minute you meet the patient.
Please tell us about any volunteer work you've done, if any.
I volunteer at Lane Regional Medical Center (LMRC), a healthcare facility in my suburban town of Zachary, Louisiana. During the summer, I volunteer at LMRC and show hospitality to patients by passing out ice to all the patients in the Emergency Rooms. Putting fresh water into their water pitchers is enough to make them smile. My experience volunteering at LMRC allowed me to develop valuable patient interaction skills and connect with my community.

I volunteer at Manning Family Children's Hospital in the family resource center. I get to connect with patients and their families through activities, such as bingo, board games, or arts and crafts. Being a volunteer has taught me that small gestures, such as a game of bingo, are incredibly meaningful to the patients. This experience allows me to help patients preserve their joys of childhood, despite whatever medical condition they may have.
