Focus Group One Pathways to College- Exploring High School Experiences explores students’ high school experiences, including access to college-readiness programs, mentoring, instruction, and supportive resources. Through guided discussion, participants identify the strengths, challenges, and gaps that shaped their readiness for higher education, offering insight into what supports were most or least effective in their transition to college.

In a collaborative “success map” activity, participants visually chart the resources, people, and strategies that contributed to their progress, generating a powerful collective understanding of what supports FGCS success.

Focus Group Three: From Insight to Action- Recommendations for Change moves from analysis to action. Using their individual and group success maps, participants work in small groups to draft recommendations for improving high school and college policies, programs, and practices that impact FGCS. They then refine these ideas as a whole group to produce student-generated, evidence-informed recommendations for practitioners and policymakers.
